Founding
After Clara Barton finished her work with the Civil War, she went to Europe to rest. She worked with an new organization called the Red Cross. This work had a great influence on her. When she returned to The United States in 1873 she then established the American Red Cross. She believed the Red Cross could help during peace time as well as war time. She also believed it could help with disaster relief.
